Former NBA star Brandon Jennings doesn't rate Draymond Green very highly. On Gilbert Arenas' 'Gil's Arena' podcast, he claimed that Bonzi Wells was a better player than Draymond Green. Kenyon Martin, who was sitting next to him, seemed to agree, and suggested that it wasn't even close.

Brandon Jennings: "Bonzi Wells better than Draymond Green."

Kenyon Martin: "That sh*t ain't even fu**ing close."

    (7:40 onwards)

It is quite the claim from the two former stars, especially considering the success Green has found in his career, both as an individual and a team player. Green is a polarizing figure in the NBA, so comments such as this shouldn't be surprising, but to diminish his talents and his performances in the league is a step too far.

Draymond Green has had an amazing career in the NBA. Despite being a second-round draft pick, Green has found a great deal of success in the NBA. Green has won 4 NBA championships, been a 4-time All-Star, and won a Defensive Player of the Year, along with making 8 All-Defensive Teams in his career.

As for Bonzi Wells, he has not had even close to the same success in the NBA. He played in the NBA for 10 years after getting drafted by the Trail Blazers, and never made any massive waves in the league. His most successful season was his rookie year, where he and the Trail Blazers took on the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

The two players' careers are not comparable, as they had entirely different trajectories. But based on the accolades, both personal and team-oriented, it isn't at all fair to suggest that Bonzi Wells was a better player than Draymond Green.

Draymond Green Looking To Find Success Again

Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors have struggled in the years since they won an NBA championship in 2022. The Warriors were knocked out of the playoffs in 2023 by the Lakers and missed out on the playoffs entirely last season.

They lost out on some key stars, as Klay Thompson chose to leave in free agency. On top of that, they missed out on some big stars like Paul George and Lauri Markkanen due to a reluctance from the Clippers and the Jazz to negotiate.

As things stand, the Warriors are putting their faith behind Stephen Curry as the resident superstar, and Brandin Podziemski as their future star, as he has shown that he can be reliable in the long run.

Podziemski spoke in detail in a recent interview about being involved in trade talks, and his role on the team going forward. It looks like Podziemski has the right mindset when it comes to taking a bigger role on the team.

For the Warriors. the coming years are crucial. With Stephen Curry in the final years of his peak, he needs to be surrounded by high-performing stars to maximize their window. Young stars like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody must step up going forward.
