The Milwaukee Bucks are gearing up for another championship run in 2024-25 with their superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard leading the way. The Bucks are stacked with star talent, especially if Khris Middleton can return to All-Star form, and have the role players around them to be difference-makers. The Eastern Conference is stacked with talent so it won’t be easy to win it all, but the Bucks have high expectations for the upcoming season and we have divided their roster into six tiers.

    Tier 1: Superstars

    Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard

Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the cornerstone of the Bucks, a two-time MVP and perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Last season, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, continuing to dominate both ends of the floor. His unique combination of size, athleticism, and skill makes him one of the most unstoppable forces in the NBA, and he’s determined to lead Milwaukee to another championship. Whether he can manage that or not greatly depends on his supporting case because Giannis needs more help than people realize with the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers looking strong.

Damian Lillard is last season’s superstar addition, bringing elite scoring, playmaking, and clutch shooting to Milwaukee. Last season, he averaged 24.3 points and 7.0 assists per game, consistently being one of the league’s top point guards. Lillard’s ability to hit deep threes and create offense in crunch time complements Giannis perfectly, giving the Bucks a dynamic duo that’s among the best in the NBA. However, Lillard needs to stay healthy because having only four postseason appearances isn’t going to cut it.

    Tier 2: All-Stars

    None

    Tier 3: Fringe All-Stars

    Khris Middleton

Khris Middleton is a key piece of the Bucks’ championship puzzle, capable of playing at an All-Star level when healthy. Although he struggled with injuries last season, Middleton still managed to average 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. His ability to score from all three levels and defend multiple positions makes him a critical component of Milwaukee’s success, especially as a third option behind Giannis and Lillard. The question is: can Middleton manage to get back to Tier 2? If he can, the Bucks will be far stronger than expected next season.

    Tier 4: Key Role Players

    Bobby Portis, Brook Lopez

Bobby Portis has become a fan favorite in Milwaukee for his energy, toughness, and ability to score off the bench. Last season, he averaged 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, providing valuable minutes as a stretch big who can knock down threes and battle inside. Portis’ versatility and intensity make him one of the most important role players on the Bucks and his role will be magnified next season.

Brook Lopez , a free agent after 2024-25, remains a defensive anchor for the Bucks, excelling as a rim protector and floor spacer. Last season, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, finishing as a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Lopez’s ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting while also providing elite shot-blocking makes him a crucial part of Milwaukee’s success.

    Tier 5: Supplementary Pieces

Gary Trent Jr., Pat Connaughton, Delon Wright, Taurean Prince

Gary Trent Jr. is a sharp-shooting guard who adds scoring punch and perimeter defense to the Bucks. Last season, he averaged 13.7 points per game on 39.3% shooting from three-point range, making him a valuable floor spacer alongside Milwaukee’s stars. Trent’s ability to create his own shot and defend multiple positions enhances the Bucks’ depth.

Pat Connaughton is a versatile wing player who provides energy, defense, and timely shooting. He averaged 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game last season, often stepping up in crucial moments with his hustle and athleticism. Connaughton’s experience and willingness to do the dirty work make him a reliable contributor off the bench.

Delon Wright is a veteran guard known for his defensive prowess and ability to facilitate. Last season, he averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, bringing a defensive mindset to the backcourt. Wright’s versatility allows him to guard multiple positions and fill in wherever needed, making him a valuable rotation player for Milwaukee.

Taurean Prince brings toughness, three-point shooting, and defensive versatility to the Bucks. Last season, he averaged 8.9 points per game on 39.6% shooting from deep, providing reliable spacing and wing defense. Prince’s experience and ability to contribute in various roles add depth and flexibility to Milwaukee’s roster.

    Tier 6: Bench

MarJon Beauchamp, AJ Johnson, AJ Green, Andre Jackson Jr, Chris Livingston, Tyler Smith

MarJon Beauchamp is a young wing with potential as a 3-and-D player. He’ll look to develop his game further and contribute in limited minutes although he showed flashes of what he can do by posting 4.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game on 48.8% shooting from the field.

Rookie AJ Johnson is a dynamic guard with scoring potential. He’s expected to learn and grow in his first NBA season, contributing in spot minutes as the No. 23 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

AJ Green is a sharpshooter who provides depth and could see minutes as a floor spacer when needed. He is only 24 years old and stands 6’4” as a shooting guard so we don’t know what to expect from him yet.

Andre Jackson Jr., taken No. 36 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, is a versatile forward who adds athleticism and defensive potential off the bench. The 22-year-old hopes to show some potential and break into the rotation at some point in the season.

Chris Livingston is a young forward with upside as a versatile defender and rebounder. He’ll aim to develop his skill set and find opportunities to contribute as the No. 58 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Tyler Smith, a rookie who was taken No. 33 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, is a project player with size and athleticism, focusing on development and future contributions.
