    Luka Doncic Says He Doesn't Like Being Famous

    Mavericks star Luka Doncic has found a lot of success in the NBA but he's not a huge fan of everything that comes with it. In the latest public soundbite, the young superstar admitted point black that he wishes he could just play the game without all of the extra theatrics.

    Interviewer: “Luka, do you like being famous?”

    Luka Doncic: “No.”

    Interviewer: “Do you wish you could play basketball and not have any cameras?”

    Luka: “Yes. Only in the game.”

    There are undeniable perks that come with being an NBA athlete. Firstly, there's the ridiculous earning potential. For Luka, he's already made over $109 million so far and that number will rise exponentially over the next few years. For most people, the celebrity lifestyle is also a bonus to the NBA experience and it can make stars feel important and loved by their fans and their city.

    In the case of Luka Doncic , the only real benefit besides money is the chance to play the game he loves. The Slovenian superstar mastered the game at an early age and he's been inseparable from it ever since ever since. According to Luka, he would completely avoid the celebrity status if he could.

    As opposed to embracing his notoriety, Luka actively tries to play it down. He's rarely seen in commercials, rarely says anything controversial or opinionated, and hardly does anything to get noticed when he steps outside the confines of the court.

    For Doncic, much like his Serbian counterpart Nikola Jokic , the NBA is just a job for him, and showing up each day is akin to clocking into work and starting a shift. For the most part, Luka likes to keep his head down so he can focus playing on the game and avoid having to deal with any nonsense from the fans or media.

    Say whatever you want about Doncic, but it seems his strategy is working so far. With career averages of 28.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game on 47.0% shooting, the guy has a case as one of the top three players in the league right now. Coming off his first NBA Finals appearance, Luka must be feeling good about this title chances and he'll no doubt be more focused than ever to complete the mission and lead the Mavericks to a championship for the first time since 2011.

    Thanks to the presence of Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, Luka Doncic is no longer alone in the fight for the trophy but the pressure falls on him to deliver an expert campaign and validate his status as one of the best in the sport.

    In the process, Luka's fame will likely only increase and he will find it harder and harder to avoid the spotlight. Unfortunately, it just comes with the territory of being one of the world's best and the only thing he can do now is learn how to make the most of it.
