Zion Williamson is a five-year NBA veteran with plenty of stories from his time in the league already. He was asked by Overtime about the best trash-talkers he's faced in his NBA career so far, naming Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant as two masters at the craft while also discussing the negative consequences of provoking Kyrie Irving with trash talk.

"There's different styles of trash-talking. You have Ant, he talks trash directly. You've got KD, whose trash talk is more of like, 'Dude, I'm just a better hooper.' How he goes about it, I can't do nothing but respect it."

"And then you got somebody like... He never initiates it from what I've seen but whenever someone does talk trash to him, he takes it to another level. It'd be Kyrie."

The video also shows Paolo Banchero and Luka Doncic being asked that question, with Banchero naming Patrick Beverley and Doncic not naming anyone. Given that Doncic is notorious for being an incredible trash-talker on his own , he likely doesn't want to weigh into this conversation.

Edwards being one of the best trash-talkers in the NBA is unsurprising given his personality and how he's openly talked trash to opponents on live TV, so what he says on the court must be far more aggressive.

Durant hasn't been brought as an elite trash-talker much in his career but given his personality and excellence, it's unsurprising to hear Durant's way of talking trash to his opponents is to simply let them know that they aren't even close to his level.

Like Durant, Kyrie isn't known as a trash-talker but we've seen plenty of moments where Irving has hunted specific players for talking trash to him. Anthony Edwards learned that in the Playoffs against Irving after saying he would lock him up before failing to do so in a 4-1 series loss.

Kevin Durant Was Slammed For Talking Trash At The Olympics

Durant had plenty of trash-talking moments during the Paris Olympics, specifically going off on South Sudan after a heated matchup .

A far more notable moment came with Dennis Schroder after Durant mocked Schroder's comments about European basketball being high-IQ compared to the NBA. After Durant's mockery, Schroder responded by slamming Durant as 'weak' for talking trash to players below his level .

"They won and then Kevin Durant tweeted, 'High IQ and entertaining.' For me, that's just being weak. That type of a star and you have to say something to a person like me who didn't even mean it to be negative, it's just what I see from both sides. I didn't appreciate it."

"I don't care but at the end of the day, that tweet he posted was because of me. For me, it was no negative stuff, I respect all those guys, all GOATs. But him saying that to me just shows me how weak he is as a person. It is what it is. Not everyone is strong or in a good place.

It seems trash-talk often gets people in their feelings, so it's quite surprising to see Zion openly give people like Edwards and Durant their props. As long as it's restrained to basketball, it's fun to watch but when take it personally, that's when it's uncomfortable for everyone involved.
