Danuel House: There Was No Chick In My Room In The Bubble And I Didn't Get Kicked Out Either

Danuel House became a household name among basketball fans in the Bubble, as he had reportedly been kicked out for bringing a woman into his hotel room. House violated the NBA's safety protocols by doing so but during a recent appearance on Ur Perspectives , he claimed he didn't have anyone in his room.

"I open the door, and I'm like, 'What's up?' He's like, 'I got NBA security with me, and I'm your team security.' So then, he's like, 'The NBA want to search your room.' So I'm like, 'For what? I'm in the bubble, there’s nothing I can (do).' And he's like, 'They said they saw a girl come up this hotel building, they want to check your room.'"

House stated he didn't think much of it because he had no one in his room. He was only a bit worried because he had weed inside and wasn't keen on the NBA's security seeing just how many boxes of it he had. So, House told Brian Savage, the Houston Rockets' security officer, that he could come in, but not NBA security.

"So as I'm getting the boxes, I just told him (Savage) and then he just told him (NBA security)," House continued. "He's like 'All right. He said, no you can't come in.' So then he was like, 'I'mma go up in there and look.' So then I was like, 'Look? What you looking for?' And he's like, 'A girl.' So I looked at him and said, 'What? A girl?' So, I knew I was good... He checks my room, it's no girl up in there. They leave my room."

House said security eventually found the woman after searching the building. She was apparently running around the place to avoid being spotted but could only hide for so long. The 31-year-old added he still didn't know who it was and dispelled rumors that were speculating about his involvement.

"It was no chick up in my room," House stated. "... The way the story is painted out, it's like, say if this was the room, the NBA walked up in there, 'House, girl, y'all was together.' Nobody was in my room."

House also claimed that he was not kicked out of the Bubble and that he could have returned to the court if the Conference Semifinals between the Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers had gone seven games.

"If somebody was in my room, like they said, they kicked me out of the Bubble. I was still there in the Bubble," House said. "I had to pass a test. If my team had taken the series to Game 7, I would’ve been able to play. I had to serve 10 days in confinement."

The series wouldn't even come close to going the distance, as the Lakers comfortably won in five games. Would House have been allowed to play a Game 7? Well, we'll never know. House then revealed the NBA's reasoning behind believing the woman had been with him.

"They basically just said like, 'S***, you did it.' I'm like, 'Me? How did I did it?' (They said), 'Because you opened up your door, and word of mouth said that you did it.' Word of mouth! I said, 'It was nobody in my room.'"

House claims he started crying as he was being accused and that the officials felt it was further proof he did it. He stated the tears came out because he was playing his best basketball at the time and felt his opportunity to shine was being taken away from him.

All of House's pleas fell on deaf ears and he was found guilty of violating the protocols. These are some interesting claims he has made and I wonder if the NBA responds to them.

In the years that followed, House never quite managed to play as well as he did in the playoffs in the Bubble, where he averaged 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. The 31-year-old is now a free agent after being waived by the Detroit Pistons during the 2023-24 season and is hoping to get another opportunity in the league.
