Michael Jordan has a reputation for being a prolific gambler and when you dabble in it a lot, you can end up losing big from time to time. A rumor has floated around for years that Jordan once lost $1 million in a dice game in Chicago and rapper G Herbo claimed on the What Could Go Wrong podcast that it did actually happen.

"On bro, that's an urban legend in my hood," Herbo said.

Herbo, who hails from Chicago, added he knows who Jordan lost to, but won't disclose the name.

"It's a real street n**** from my hood so I ain't even gonna disclose his name," Herbo stated. "This back in the '90s, some s*** like that. And it was believable cuz this n**** that had real money in my hood... People from my hood who watching, they gonna know exactly who I'm talking about."

Herbo added that he doesn't think Jordan has paid up the full amount to this day.

"I feel like Jordan only gave him probably about 4, 5, 600," Herbo said. "He probably owe him 400,000 to this day... I ain't gonna lie, that's a real story that I heard growing up, for real. And I know it ain't no lie."

Herbo also revealed that he has heard that Jordan is still very active when it comes to gambling.

"I still hear stories about Mike still being in the trenches, gambling," Herbo stated. "Like still in the gambling houses."

If it's true that Jordan lost this much money in a dice game, it's incredible that he continued gambling after it. You'd think that this big a loss would dissuade someone but that clearly didn't happen. It might point to a gambling addiction, but the man himself didn't think that was the case.

Jordan famously stated in an interview with Connie Chung in 1993 that he had a "competition problem" and could stop gambling at any time. He apparently hasn't stopped it even now as a 61-year-old, though, but when you've got a net worth of $3.2 billion like him, it doesn't hurt the pockets too much.

Michael Jordan Was Once Down $500,000 At A Gambling Table But Stayed Up All Night To Win $600,000

Jordan appears to have been no stranger to being down huge sums at the gambling table. Roland Lazenby shared in his book "Michael Jordan: The Life", that Jordan was once down $500,000 but then stayed up all night to win $600,000.

“During exhibition season in late October, Leahy’s running account of the comeback tracked Jordan up at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun casino the night before a game," Lazenby wrote.

"Jordan, down $500,000 at the gambling tables, stayed till the sun came up, and he had won his money back, plus about $600,000 more, all the while unaware that Leahy was providing a running play-by-play of the event for readers back in D.C."

Jordan's obsession with winning helped him out in a big way in that instance. Perhaps he might have been hoping that something similar happened in that dice game in Chicago, but it wasn't to be.

While these two gambling stories are wild enough, there are so many more. One of those that stands out is when Jordan missed a visit to the White House to gamble with a drug dealer. This was after the Chicago Bulls won their first title in 1991, which makes it even more ridiculous.
