Angel Reese lost one of the most surprising bets in recent memory, as she bet her entire WNBA rookie year salary that Shaquille O'Neal couldn't make a free throw. O'Neal, who is historically a terrible free-throw shooter, surprised Reese by making the shot, which led to both stars laughing about the unlikely outcome.

"$100,000 if you make this shot."

Of course, it is unlikely that the bet was made seriously between the two, as it was a lot of money for Reese to be wagering here.

On top of that, given the relationship she shares with O'Neal, it would be safe to say that he will come to collect the $100K that Reese put on the line for the free throw. But it was still funny to see Shaq finally deliver at the free throw line the moment there was a financial incentive for him.

Shaquille O'Neal is a big fan and vocal supporter of Angel Reese. Reese, who represented LSU during her collegiate basketball career, has often gotten support from O'Neal.

O'Neal gained a fondness for Reese because she represented LSU, his alma mater before he entered the NBA. He claimed once that she was the best basketball player in the history of LSU , even better than him.

He has continued to show support for Reese as she entered the WNBA, even going as far as to call her his daughter . It is great to see a legend like Shaq show support to a player like Reese, whom many expect to be one of the best players in the history of the WNBA.

O'Neal has also claimed that he wants Reese, along with Caitlin Clark, to find financial success and earn money similar to the amount NBA players are able to make. Shaq has backed Angel Reese since she first gained prominence after her NCAA championship win and the criticism she received for her behavior, something Shaq defended her from .

Angel Reese Looking For Revenge Next Season

Angel Reese had a phenomenal season with the Chicago Sky. She averaged 13.1 points, 13.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. To average a double-double in your first season in the WNBA is nothing short of phenomenal. Reese was so good that she set the record for most rebounds in a WNBA season.

However, she suffered a season-ending injury in the final weeks of the WNBA season and saw her record-setting rebound count surpassed by recently crowned WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson. Wilson even took a shot at Reese when a reporter brought up her breaking record during a press conference.

Regardless of the criticism aimed toward Reese, there is no denying the positive impact she has had on women's basketball. Her rivalry with Caitlin Clark has massively elevated the WNBA in terms of popularity, with their final game facing each other last season becoming the most expensive WNBA game ever (at the time).

Hopefully, Reese can continue to elevate the league's popularity even further in the years to come.
