Philadelphia 76ers fans will be concerned despite their team's 104-89 win over the Atlanta Hawks , as Paul George suffered a nasty looking injury during the game's second quarter. George was taken out of the game, and didn't return in the second half. The 76ers later confirmed that the injury kept him out of the game.

NBA fans shared their concern after watching the clip of the gruesome injury. A warning to those who are slightly squeamish, as the injury does see George's knee bend unnaturally. It looked painful in the moment, and could have long-term ramifications for the 76ers.

"Yea 76ers better keep PG out for a bit…"

"An injury in pre-season? Damn, Good luck to the people who drafted him."

    "Oh sh*t that looked bad."

"And this is why it will be Knicks vs Celtics in the ECF dis year."

"OH HELL NO, that looked TERRIBLE. F**k man, prayers."

    "You gotta be kidding me."

    "Lucky it wasn’t worse fr."

"I can feel the pain through this video man smh."

"Tuff life for him! Injured in pre-season."

"Damn. Hopefully it ain't to bad."

    "IN PRESEASON??"

"The 76ers might be cursed dawg."

The 76ers told reporters after the game that George suffered a left knee hyperextension, and will be undergoing an examination later to understand the prognosis of the injury. George is likely to get an MRI tomorrow to see what exactly the injury is and what timeframe he will be working with, if any time off is required to heal.

Prior to the injury, George looked good, putting up 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Paul George went 3-5 from the field and 1-1 from the three-point line, but struggled at the free-throw line, going 1-3 from the stripe.

Paul George Not Too Concerned About Injury

Speaking to reporters after the game, Paul George noted that he wasn't too concerned about the injury, and would focus on getting treatment on the knee tonight before getting it checked tomorrow morning. George was seen wearing a sleeve on the left knee, but was reportedly walking on the injury without any assistance.

76ers head coach Nick Nurse spoke about the timing of Paul George's injury, noting that he hadn't had enough time to work into the new system, and he hopes that George's injury doesn't keep him away from the team for a long time so that they can continue integrating him into the rest of the team.

“Certainly trying to work him into things, and he wants to work into things too. So this doesn’t give him a chance to do that. Hopefully it’ll be OK so he’s back with us right away.”

George has a history of knee injuries, which is why the 76ers are likely to be very careful with him. With the season not yet beginning, the 76ers have plenty of time to let George recover at his own pace.

An injury in preseason for George could let him join Joel Embiid on the sidelines, as Embiid has also been ruled out of any and all remaining preseason games due to his injury concerns. Injuries were always going to be the biggest detriment for the 76ers this season, as their trio of stars has a shaky history when it comes to health.

The 76ers will hope that both George and Embiid will at least be healthy come time to start the regular season. But even with a fully healthy Embiid, they should not expect him to play anymore back-to-back games , as he said those days are over for him.
