US President Barack Obama presented a starting lineup he feels is the best of all time. No surprise, the native Chicagoan decided to take the greatest player ever, Michael Jordan, with his first pick and filled out his lineup with other elite stars from the past but mainly from the present. With a superstar lineup, Obama’s side looks like this:

Barack Obama’s Starting Lineup: Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Hakeem Olajuwon

Obama seems to appreciate modern NBA stars such as Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant but does not mind going back to one of the NBA’s greatest creators, Hakeem Olajuwon, with Michael Jordan being chosen as a given. As good as the former President’s lineup is, we might have one that is better.

To challenge Obama, Fadeaway World has presented a starting lineup with the right star power balance and skills to take on the talented opponent. Our lineup will take on a different feel, one based on toughness, aggression, and clutch shot-making.

Fadeaway World’s All-Time Lineup: Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal

Imagine both teams went to war in a 7-game series, is there a way to name a potential winner? With the all-time best-of-7 series set, we analyze each player’s matchup and who will win the series.

    Magic Johnson vs. Stephen Curry

This battle is one of contrasting styles, with Magic Johnson’s size, court vision, and playmaking going against Stephen Curry’s revolutionary shooting and off-ball movement. Magic, standing at 6’9", would use his size to dominate in the post and orchestrate fast breaks with ease, making him a force to deal with in transition.

Meanwhile, Curry’s range and ability to warp defenses with his off-ball movement create headaches for defenders, making it difficult for Magic to contain him from deep. Curry may win the shooting battle, but Magic's size, versatility, and playmaking give him the edge in controlling the game’s tempo.

    Kobe Bryant vs. Michael Jordan

This iconic matchup between two of the fiercest competitors in NBA history brings up inevitable comparisons. Michael Jordan’s elite athleticism, unmatched mid-range game, and defensive prowess give him an edge, as he was the more efficient player at his peak.

However, Kobe Bryant’s relentless work ethic and footwork, combined with his ability to hit tough shots, make him a worthy adversary. Jordan’s experience, six championships, and defensive tenacity give him the slight advantage, but Bryant will push him to the limit in what would be a legendary duel.

    Larry Bird vs. LeBron James

LeBron James and Larry Bird face off in a classic battle of skill versus physical dominance. Bird, one of the greatest shooters and basketball IQ masters, can stretch the floor, create plays, and use his craftiness to get the best of defenders. LeBron, however, has an overwhelming edge in athleticism, strength, and versatility.

While Bird can outsmart LeBron in half-court sets and create mismatches with his shooting, LeBron’s ability to dictate both ends of the floor with his speed, power, and basketball IQ ultimately gives him the upper hand in this matchup.

    Tim Duncan vs. Kevin Durant

This clash between Tim Duncan and Kevin Durant is a contrast in fundamental dominance versus scoring brilliance. Duncan’s footwork, post moves, and defensive capabilities make him the anchor of his team, while Durant’s offensive versatility—whether pulling up from three, mid-range, or attacking the basket—presents an almost unguardable challenge.

Duncan’s ability to guard multiple positions and protect the rim gives him the advantage defensively, but Durant’s scoring efficiency and ability to stretch the defense from anywhere on the floor give him the offensive edge in this battle.

    Shaquille O’Neal vs. Hakeem Olajuwon

Shaquille O’Neal and Hakeem Olajuwon provide a clash of sheer power versus skill and finesse in the paint. Shaq’s overwhelming size and strength allow him to dominate in the low post, where he can overpower almost any defender, but Hakeem’s footwork, agility, and defensive instincts give him the tools to counter Shaq’s brute force.

Olajuwon’s ability to hit mid-range shots and dominate with his famous "Dream Shake" could give Shaq trouble, but in a physical battle, Shaq's size and rebounding prowess grant him a slight edge in this classic big-man showdown.

    Who Wins A Best-Of-7 Series?

Team Obama takes an early lead in the series with a strong all-around performance, largely fueled by Stephen Curry’s incredible shooting from deep. Curry drains six threes, stretching the defense and opening up lanes for Michael Jordan to attack the basket. Jordan chips in with 28 points, and his defensive intensity limits Kobe Bryant, especially in crunch time. LeBron James contributes across the board with a near triple-double. Despite Shaquille O’Neal’s dominance inside with 26 points and 14 rebounds, Team Fadeaway can’t slow down Curry’s offensive explosion, leading to a Game 1 victory for Team Obama.

Team Fadeaway World bounces back in Game 2 with a more balanced attack. Kobe Bryant finds his rhythm, pouring in 32 points, hitting tough shots over Jordan. Magic Johnson orchestrates the offense brilliantly, dishing out 14 assists and controlling the pace of the game. Larry Bird hits five crucial three-pointers, spreading the floor and forcing LeBron to defend on the perimeter. Despite another 30+ point game from Jordan and a strong performance from Olajuwon on both ends, Team Fadeaway’s teamwork and Kobe’s clutch play down the stretch even the series at 1-1.

In a thrilling overtime game, Kevin Durant takes over with 37 points, including several clutch shots in the extra period. His ability to shoot over defenders, combined with his rebounding, gives Team Obama a slight edge in a back-and-forth contest. LeBron James flirts with a triple-double, helping to control the pace of the game, while Curry chips in with 25 points and key threes. For Team Fadeaway, Shaquille O’Neal dominates the paint again with 28 points and 16 rebounds, while Tim Duncan holds his own with 21 points and 12 boards, but Durant’s late-game heroics give Team Obama a 2-1 series lead.

Larry Bird steps up in Game 4, showing off his all-around game with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. His ability to hit clutch shots and make smart plays allows Team Fadeaway to control the tempo. Kobe Bryant adds 27 points, finding his way around Jordan’s defense more effectively in this game. Shaquille O’Neal continues to provide a strong presence inside, with 19 points and 13 rebounds, helping his team to even the series. Jordan leads all scorers with 34 points and four steals, but Team Obama’s supporting cast struggles to keep up as Fadeaway World ties the series 2-2.

Stephen Curry shines once again, hitting seven threes en route to 30 points and dishing out nine assists. His shooting stretches the floor and opens up scoring opportunities for Durant and Olajuwon, who controls the paint with 18 points and 12 rebounds while adding five blocks. Shaquille O’Neal continues to be a force inside, grabbing 16 rebounds, but his teammates struggle to match Team Obama’s firepower from outside. Magic Johnson racks up 12 assists, but Curry’s three-point barrage proves too much, giving Team Obama a 3-2 series lead.

Kobe Bryant takes over in Game 6, dropping 38 points and keeping Team Fadeaway World alive with a dazzling offensive performance. Shaquille O’Neal continues to dominate the paint, adding 26 points and 15 rebounds while swatting away three shots. Larry Bird’s playmaking and timely shooting help Team Fadeaway build a lead late in the game. Despite LeBron James filling up the stat sheet with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, and Jordan scoring 29, Team Obama struggles to contain Kobe, and the series is tied 3-3 heading to Game 7.

In a nail-biting Game 7, Team Fadeaway World edges out a 113-110 victory. Magic Johnson controls the game with 19 points, 15 assists, and 8 rebounds, expertly running the offense and setting up his teammates. Kobe Bryant delivers another clutch performance with 30 points, hitting key shots late in the game. Tim Duncan provides stability inside, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while swatting four shots to protect the paint.

Despite Stephen Curry’s 28 points and six three-pointers, and Kevin Durant’s 25 points, Team Fadeaway’s balanced attack and defensive stops down the stretch lead them to a hard-fought 4-3 series win. Kobe Bryant wins Finals MVP, averaging 31 points per game and delivering clutch performances throughout the series, especially in Games 6 and 7.

Final Result: Fadeaway World vs. Barack Obama’s Team 4-3

    Finals MVP: Kobe Bryant
