WNBA star Angel Reese is speaking out on the current salary for her and her fellow players. In a Q&A on Instagram, Reese exposed the pay situation and revealed that she doesn't make enough right now to cover rent or bills.

"Hatin pays them bills baby… I just hope y'all know, the WNBA don't pay my bills at all," said Reese . I don't even think that pays one of my bills... my rent is $8 thousand, I'm living beyond my means! I don't even know my salary for the WNBA."

At just 22 years old, Angel Reese only has a year of experience in the WNBA and she's already emerged as one of its premier stars. Last season, she averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game for the Chicago Sky. She was a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year and she started a viral rivalry with Caitlin Clark that sparked new life into the league . Angel's rookie campaign was historic for the W and a sign of great things ahead for the young athlete.

Reese has other means to make a living now, but it seems the typical WNBA salary is not up to her standards and it's well-known that the job isn't terribly high paying. While the league does grow in popularity with each passing year, it doesn't make a profit. In fact, the WNBA loses roughly $10 million per season dating back to 1996.

This is the reason why the average WNBA athlete makes roughly $140,00 per year compared to their NBA counterparts who average $11.9 million. In the case of Angel Reese, her salary as a rookie was $73,439 but it pales in comparison to her earnings through endorsements and other partnerships. It's through those endorsements, not her career in the W, that she supports herself and her celebrity lifestyle.

Of course, as many fans have pointed out, Angel doesn't have to live under such expensive conditions. She could move to a cheaper location or cut something back on her spending, but nobody should be expecting her to change her habits now.

Unfortunately for other WNBA players, they may not have the clout to maintain such an extravagant life. The role-players of the league have to live with their salary as it is and it could be years before their paychecks start to reflect what you might expect for a professional athlete. The W is still decades behind the action and the process of building up the fans and growing the profits will be a long one.

Angel Reese doesn't have time to wait and she (along with other WNBA stars) will keep looking for other ways to make a living unless the WNBA decides to step up and give out more to their players.

Following a historic rookie campaign, Angel knows her worth and she knows the life that she wants to live. The WNBA just isn't enough right now and she will be among those fighting to get a bigger share of the pie.
