The Golden State Warriors have agreed on a three-year, $39 million contract extension with Moses Moody, according to Shams Charania . Moody was drafted with the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and has earned a rotational role after three years of development under Steve Kerr's coaching staff. After a summer of being included in trade rumors, Moody's future in Golden State has been guaranteed.

"Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody has agreed to a three-year, $39 million rookie contract extension, CEO of Klutch Sports, Rich Paul, tells ESPN. Moody has developed into a key, reliable rotation player for Steve Kerr and the Warriors."

Steve Kerr recently spoke about Moody's development over the summer and if he'll have a solidified role on the revamped Warriors this season.

"He's playing great. He's gotten so much better in so many ways. We've always loved his character and his work ethic. This is the most confidence he's played with... But so are a lot of other guys. We're sitting in that coaches' room every day saying: 'How are we going to play all these guys?' Because they all deserve to play. I've asked all of them to play their hardest, make it difficult for us."

Moody averaged 8.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists on 46.2% from the field and 36.0% from three on three attempts a game last season.

He was reportedly one of the players being floated in trade packages over the summer for players like Paul George and Lauri Markkanen , but that failure seems to have allowed the Warriors to commit a contract for the 22-year-old swingman.

Steve Kerr Hoped Moses Moody And Jonathan Kuminga Get Extensions

Hours before Moody's extension was confirmed, Steve Kerr spoke at Warriors practice and expressed his desire to see Moody and Jonathan Kuminga get contract extensions .

“I would love it if both guys signed extensions, but I also understand they have to weigh the pros and cons. I’d love to have them here long-term because they’re both great to coach and they’re getting better and better all the time.”

“For me as a coach, when I see our players signing contracts that are life-changing, it’s really gratifying. A big part of the job is to help these guys become the best player they can be and to be able to take care of their families. I hope we get them both done.”

With Moody's future decided it'll be interesting to see how the Warriors proceed with Kuminga. The 22-year-old averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season, showing flashes of the star the Warriors thought he would be when they drafted him with the No. 5 pick in the 2021 Draft.

Kuminga's encouraging upward trajectory has him angling for a max rookie extension while the Warriors are unwilling to commit that much money to him before the season even starts.

This is a contract year for Kuminga and he'll be looking forward to maximizing an increased role in the Warriors' offense by proving to the franchise he's worth the max extensions he saw the players such as Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, and Franz Wagner receive this offseason.
