Fair Lawn/Glen Rock Athletes Starred In Outdoor College Sports This Spring

Several Fair Lawn and Glen Rock student-athletes made their mark in collegiate sports this past outdoor season. Let’s take a look at some of their accomplishments. This is the first installation:
Sam Murri (Fair Lawn High School) was a senior defender and midfielder for the Kean University (Union, New Jersey) women’s lacrosse squad this year. Murris started in all 17 games and 17 goals and five assists for Kean.
The Cougars tallied an overall record of 9-8 with a mark of 5-3 at home and one victory in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Owen Corry (Glen Rock High School) was a graduate student who played midfield for the New Jersey Institute of Technology (Hoboken) men’s lacrosse program this year. Corry started in 12 games and had 15 goals and 12 assists for NJIT.
The Highlanders posted an overall record of 8-6 with a mark of 5-3 at home. In the America East Conference they had one victory.
Michelle Martignoni Mercado, Nicole Martignoni Mercado and Isabella Pollock, all graduates of Fair Lawn High School were members of the Caldwell University (NJ) women’s track and field program.
Nicole Martignoni Mercado was on the roster as a senior distance runner. Pollock, a sophomore middle distance runner placed sixth in the 400 meter at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships hosted by Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. She was a part of the 4 by 400 relay team that placed fourth at the CACC Championships.
Michelle Martignoni Mercado was on the roster as a sophomore competitor in hurdles.
The Cougars placed ninth in the team scoring at the CACC Championships. Pollock is listed as a Nursing major, Michelle Martignoni Mercado is listed as an Art/Elementary Education major and Nicole Martignoni Mercado is listed as a Nursing major.
Aidan Pitshone (Fair Lawn High School) was a junior right-handed pitcher for the Centenary University (Hackettstown, NJ) baseball team this year. Pitshone appeared in five games and struck out a batter this past season.
The Cyclones posted 17 overall wins, with eight victories on their home field and six wins in the Atlantic East Conference. Pitshone is listed as a Sports and Entertainment Management major.
Alexander Kislenko (Fair Lawn High School) was a sophomore competitor in sprints and jumps for the Monmouth University (West Long Branch, NJ) men’s track and field program this past spring season. Kislenko was part of the 4 by 100 relay team that placed third at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship meet hosted by Elon University in North Carolina. He placed fourth in the long jump at the CAA Championships.
The Hawks placed third in the team scoring at the CAA Championships. Kislenko is listed as a Biology major.
Sean Stephenson (Glen Rock High School) was a freshman defender and long stick midfielder for the Montclair State University men’s lacrosse team this year. Stephenson played in three games and won a ground ball for Montclair State.
The Red Hawks had four overall wins with two victores on their home field. They advanced to the Coastal Lacrosse Conference Tournament where they were defeated, 12-10, by Stockton University in a contest held in Galloway, NJ.
