Employee dead, two others hurt in crash at Flagship Carwash in Fairfax

FAIRFAX CITY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Fairfax City Police said one person died and two others were hurt after being hit by a car on Saturday morning.

Police said they were dispatched to the Flagship Carwash parking lot in the 10800 block of Fairfax Boulevard just before 11 a.m. Police were told three employees were hit by a car.

An investigation revealed that, after exiting the carwash bay, a customer hit a nearby car on the lot before hitting a group of employees. One of the employees had life-threatening injuries and was taken to Fairfax Hospital.

Martha Clemencia Nguyen, 62, of Fairfax, died from her injuries.

The two other employees were said to have injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver remained at the scene, police said.

In a statement, Mayor Catherine S. Read said, in part:

Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and others who witness[ed] this event unfold. Such an unexpected loss of life impacts our community and we share the grief many are feeling who know the victims and bystanders. Additional information will be forthcoming as the ongoing investigation reaches its conclusion.
