FAIRFAX, Va. ( DC News Now ) — City of Fairfax police arrested a man on Sunday for robbing a Safeway in May.

The City of Fairfax Police Department said officers responded to a Safeway at 10350 Willard Way after receiving a report of a robbery.

Officers found out that a man had come into the Safeway, took something off the shelf and tried to leave without paying for it. An employee approached the man, who “implied he had a firearm,” before leaving the store without paying for the stuff he took.

List: New Virginia laws in effect July 1

    No injuries were reported.

Police said on June 30, they identified the man as 29-year-old Mars Jones. They had obtained a warrant for robbery against him, but he was already being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center for a different charge.

Police served Jones the warrant and he was held without bond.
