Fairfield police arrested a 30-year-old man they believe is responsible for a string of fires, at least two of which were in large commercial trash receptacles.

    Yes. Dumpster fires.

At 10:45 p.m. on June 21, someone flagged down an officer regarding a dumpster fire in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 1400 block of West Texas Street. The person said they saw a man leaving the scene of the fire, but couldn't provide a description.

Not long after, a second dumpster fire was reported to the rear of another restaurant a few blocks away.

Police said Monday additional fires were reported in the parking lot and in the area to the rear of a grocery store, also on West Texas Street.

Dispatchers reviewed security cameras and provided officers with a description of the likely culprit.

An officer later allegedly found a man matching the description starting a fire in a trash can in front of Anytime Fitness. He was arrested and booked into county jail.
