FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Several beaches and swimming areas are closed Thursday after heavy rainfall came down the night before.

Stratford beaches will be closed for the day due to the excessive rainfall.

Officials plan to reopen the beaches on Friday, “assuming we do not receive additional rainfall by that time.”

In Fairfield, all coastal swimming areas and Lake Mohegan are closed. However, the beaches and Splash Pad are open.
