There will be no election for the City of Fairfield in May.

That’s because the three offices that are up for re-election will not face opposition. This means that Mayor Kenny Hughes, Council Member Place 1 James Tyus and Council Member Place 2 Arland Thill will retain their seats.

Hughes, who was elected Mayor in 2018, will begin his fourth term in May. Tyus and Thill will both retain their seats for second terms.

The city also approved an agreement between itself and Safebuilt Texas regarding code enforcement and building official services. According to Hughes, Safebuilt will handle abandoned or uninhabitable buildings that require license code enforcement.

Council will meet again at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9.
