HUNTINGTON — Kohl Collins threw for 307 yards and six touchdowns on 6-of-8 passing before watching the final 27 minutes from the sideline as the Fairfield Eagles stormed to a 56-7 win over the Huntington Red Devils in district action here Friday night.

Collins hit Calyn Wilson in stride for a 53-yard touchdown on the Eagles first offensive play of the game. That was a sign of things to come as he would eventually throw touchdowns on each of his first four attempts, all coming in the first quarter.

His sixth touchdown pass of the night was a 37-yarder to Wilson, which was quickly followed by a Finn Smith 10-yard touchdown run that put the Eagles on top of an overmatched Huntington squad 49-0 with three minutes remaining in the first half.

That score led to a running clock for the rest of the night.

Wilson led Fairfield’s receivers with three catches for 144 yards and three scores.

Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defense never let Huntington get started as it held the Red Devils to 62 total yards.

After the early touchdown, the Eagles put up two scores within six seconds of each other.

On the team’s second offensive play of the night, Wilson hit Collins for a 54-yard touchdown that made it 14-0.

Fairfield jumped on the following kickoff when Huntington didn’t field it. Collins did the work from there, hitting Connor Colvert for a 29-yard score that made it 21-0 with 9:08 still left in the first quarter.

The Eagles once again took only one play to score when they got the ball again, this time with Collins hitting Kyndal Tatum for a 71-yard touchdown pass that made it 28-0.

Fairfield’s longest drive of the game came on a five-play, 88-yard drive. The Eagles got back on the board when Wilson delivered a short pass to Jaylon Shed, who did the rest of the work in sprinting for a 68-yard score that made it 35-0 28 seconds into the second quarter.

Another one-play drive got the Eagles on the board once again with Wilson hitting Collins for a perfect 37-yard scoring strike that made it 42-0 with 9:04 left in the half.

The Eagles added a seventh touchdown with three minutes left when Finn Smith scored on a 10-yard run that made it 49-0.

Fairfield scored its seven touchdowns on a total of 16 plays.

Huntington got on the board two minutes into the fourth quarter when Brandt Kovar hit Matteo Markley for a 25-yard touchdown that made it 49-7.

Fairfield got its final score of the night when Jason Brackens scored on a 26-yard run that made it 56-7 in the final two minutes.

Fairfield (5-2, 2-0) will host Diboll at 7 p.m. Friday. Huntington (0-7, 0-2) plays at Crockett at 7 Friday night.
