3rd annual Go Texan BBQ this weekend

The 3rd Annual Freestone County Go Texan BBQ Cook-Off Texas State Championship will take place this weekend, April 26-27, at the W.L. Moody Reunion Fairgrounds in Fairfield.

There will be vendors, shopping, and food trucks to enjoy throughout the weekend. A bounce house, face painting, snow cones, and crafts will be free for the kids.

A team meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. Check-in and the team meeting will be held at the show arena. All food will be turned in at the green barn.

Deadlines on Friday night include Cooks Choice at 8 p.m. and Desserts Jackpot at 9 p.m.

Horseshoes will be played at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Live music on Friday night from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. will be provided by Kevin Ellis and Steve Murray (Perfect Stranger).

Live music will be taking place throughout the day on Saturday. Logan Allison and Jacob Gonzales will perform from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.; Kyle Lane from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.; and Texas Unlimited Band from 9 p.m. - midnight.

Deadlines throughout the day on Saturday include Breakfast Jackpot at 10 a.m., Salsa Jackpot at 11 a.m., Chicken at 12 p.m., Pork Spare Ribs at 1:30 p.m., and Brisket at 3 p.m. Awards are scheduled to begin around 5 p.m.

The cornhole tournament will take place on Saturday, after the awards, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
