The 2024 Freestone County Fair is next week, June 10-15, at the W.L. Moody Reunion Fairgrounds in Fairfield. Tylin Randle, who is a 2024 graduate of Teague High School, is ready to show his market swine at his last Freestone County Fair.

“I am excited that I get to show one more year at the Freestone County Fair,” Randle said. “I didn’t make the sale last year so I have been working harder to make my pig better this year.”

Randle has been showing since he was in the eighth grade so this is his fifth Freestone County Fair to compete in. He is a member of the Teague FFA.

His swine is named Gus this year. When asked about the name, he said he took it from Lonesome Dove.

He has been working with Gus since February so it is about a four and a half month project. He has to rinse off, oil down, feed, and walk his pig for 15 minutes each day.

“Over the years, I have learned everything doesn’t go your way,” Randle said. “It takes time and a lot of effort. You will face adversity along the way.”

Randle also played football and baseball for four years for the Lions.

Tylin is the son of Aletra Randle. Tylin plans to attend TSTC to study Electrical Power Control this fall.

When asked what his favorite part of the Freestone County Fair is, Randle said, “I love all the cattle shows. The amount of people that come out is amazing. The energy and vibe around the cattle show is just awesome.”
