Keisha “KScott” Scott always had a fascination for houses.

“As a kid, I was always drawing houses,” she said. “I didn’t know that I would be a broker, but I always drew houses. It was 1-story or 2-story with a pool and trees.”

Scott also has a desire to give back to the Butler community where she grew up. She has the privilege to do that as a Broker for Butler Town Realty.

“I wanted to help my community,” Scott said. “This is my way of contributing to my community.”

The business recently celebrated a ribbon cutting through the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. Several small businesses were at the event as well such as Bo’s BBQ & Catering, Keiths Auto, All G’s, Walk It Out Farms, Living Waters Family Church, Simon Solutions, Cookies Place, Rush Hour Transport, Twisted Citrus Lemonade, Bracelets By Buttercup, Black Ice, Cuellar’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Trillionheir Management, Colman’s Cajan Eggrolls, Tuscin Flair, AJ Catering, Sv Gat’s Construction, Butler Water Company, J&A Welding Service, Enctex Services and Impress Official.

“I’m an advocate for entrepreneurship,” Scott said. “We’re going to reinvest in our community by supporting entrepreneurship. We hope that this place sets the tone for other things to come in the future. It gives us some hope in Butler.”

Scott, a Dallas native, has been in realty for more than 20 years and has been a broker for more than a decade. Her real estate career began in Dallas suburb Highland Park before coming home to Butler.

“I was born in Dallas and raised in Butler,” Scott said. “I took Bus 35 to Fairfield from Butler everyday. I went to school here and spent summers in Dallas.”

Scott said she learned a lot from her grandmothers, Ruthie Bea Henderson Woodard and Billie Adams Holt.

“Ruthie Bea taught me survival, humbleness and staying faithful to the Lord,” Scott said. “Billie Holt was truly a business woman, and she taught me to save money, how to be a lady and how to save for emergencies. They were my driving forces. They poured knowledge into me. They taught me how to live in reality.”

She also learned a few things through her education in Fairfield.

“I learned about diversity from Fairfield.” Scott said. “We had all kinds of kids who lived differently.”

Scott said that entrepreneurship and construction have been passions for her as well. She plans to help the Butler community grow economically as well.

“I’ve always been an entrepreneur, and I obtained a broker’s license so I could hire agents,” Scott said. “I knew that I would have my own business as a child. I’m going to retire early, and I came back to Butler because it needs economic growth. I believe in education. It’s not the only way, but it is a way to achieve goals. We’re working on a restaurant and other things that’ll help our young entrepreneurs. I could’ve been anywhere, but the Lord told me to stay here in Butler. I took a stand for the Lord and I’m here today. I’m also hiring real estate agents. I’m bringing economic growth that way, too.”

Scott also gave credit to her husband, Bobby Scott, for always being there for her.

“My husband is the one who does everything behind the scenes from picking up signs to encouragement,” she said.
