Star Awards are given to students that contribute in many areas, but the awards given out at the banquet were in an area where the student exhibited their greatest contribution to the local FFA Chapter in the areas of leadership and academic excellence.

Marissa Eppes and Makenna Eppes received the Beef Proficiency Award. Both of these members have been active on their beef cattle show throughout their FFA careers. They have exhibited breeding beef heifers at the major stock shows and market steers at the Freestone County Fair. Both of them also have a small herd of registered and commercial cows.

Miley Blair received the Sheep Proficiency Award.

She has shown her sheep through FFA the past few years at county and major livestock shows. She will be showing her sheep and goats at the Freestone County Fair in June.

Obie Crook earned the Swine Proficiency Award. He has shown market swine since he joined the Jr. FFA in fourth grade. This year he will also show breeding gilts at the Freestone County Fair along with a market barrow.

Collin Glass received the Ag Mechanics Proficiency Award. He has been on the Ag Mechanics team the past two years and was essential in helping build and show two truck beds ordered from community members. When Collin is not helping in the ag shop, he is constructing metal buildings for his father’s business.

The Chapter Scholar Award went to River Bonds for being the highest-ranking senior of the chapter. He plans on attending Tarleton State University and majoring in Engineering.

Jr. Prepared Public Speaking Proficiency went to Madyn Mitchael and Sr. Prepared Ag Policy Speaking Proficiency went to Avery Strait.

Davie Pickens earned the Star Greenhand Award and Avery Strait received the Star Chapter Farmer Award.

CeCe Sweeney and Jesse Abston were also inducted as honorary members into the Fairfield FFA for all of their help and support for the organization.

“CeCe and Jesse are the biggest supporters of all things at FHS. They are always willing to help out when the FFA needs it, whether for meetings, banquets, or just making sure the ag building is ready for the students each day,” said. You will also find them cheering on all of our students at every event possible.”

At the end of the banquet, the 2024-25 officers were announced as the following: President Blake Phillips, Vice President Avery Strait, Secretary Lauren Scott, Treasurer Cole Coufal, Reporter Connor Petty, Sentinel Trinity Glass, Student Advisor Obie Crook, and Parliamentarian Alaina Baker.
