Lovelady Lions Visit Washington D.C.
LOVELADY – A group of Lovelady Lion junior high students, along with parents and teachers were able to visit Washington D.C., thanks to a group which helps organize and finance the trip. The kids crisscrossed the capital, getting to take in the history, monuments and even the solemn majesty of Arlington National Cemetery.
Crockett FFA Wins State Awards
CROCKETT – Crockett Independent School District (CISD) FFA members won two more state titles following the State FFA Convention, for rabbitry and service learning. With the impact of Beryl in Houston Texas the week of the State FFA Convention, interviews for the state finalist were postponed. After the interviews, the following students were crowned this year’s State Champions:
Grapeland Senior Citizens Center Events Planned
GRAPELAND – Less than one year ago, The Messenger reported on the beginning of a new area for the Grapeland Senior Citizens’ Center, located at 112 Church Street. The center had suffered from lack of community participation, leading to the need to reset efforts, leading to the election of a new board, officers and a push to breathe new life into the facility.

BELLMEAD, Texas — Have you seen these men?. The Bellmead Police Department is asking for help identifying two men accused of stealing from a Sam's Club. According to police, security footage from the store shows the men entering the store and stealing from the electronic section. Multiple projects connect Baylor and NASA in research supporting space exploration
In the last year, multiple Baylor professors have earned NASA grants and/or partnered with the space agency on projects to help us better understand our universe. Dr. Peter James, assistant professor of geosciences, earned an Early Career Award from NASA for his contributions to planetary science. James founded Baylor’s Planetary Research Group, where his research has uncovered a mysterious mass on the far side of the moon and examined gravity field data from spacecraft orbiting planets. With this award, he’ll advance studies on the impact of craters and volcanoes on rocky planetary surfaces.
