    450,000 gallons of treated wastewater spills in Fairhope after manhole overflow

    FAIRHOPE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The City of Fairhope announced Mobile Bay was involved in a manhole overflow spill of over 450,000 gallons.

    Fairhope Water and Wastewater Department officials said 451,064 gallons of treated effluent water spilled following a downpour that caused 4 inches of rain in an hour at the City Sewer Treatment plant.

    The one body of water involved was Mobile Bay.

    Fairhope officials said, “site on property of the plant was cleaned and disinfected with signs placed.”
