Fairhope prepares for Independence Day fireworks show

FAIRHOPE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The City of Fairhope has been preparing for its annual Fourth of July celebration at the Fairhope Municipal Pier for weeks.

On Thursday, the community’s hard work will pay off when locals and tourists alike make their way to the park to watch the fireworks show.

The Fairhope Police Department is expecting over 10,000 people to attend the fireworks this year at the pier.

Fairhope Community Affairs Director Paige Crawford said that everyone involved has been working hard to prepare the park for the big event. She said the city truly is a special place, especially around holidays.

“Fairhope shines I feel like for the holidays, we really try to make it feel special in town,” Crawford said.

Crawford said that the fireworks show will consist of more than 1,500 fireworks. She said people can typically see the show for miles beyond the pier.

In addition to the fireworks, the city will also host a concert on Thursday evening.

The Baldwin Pops will play patriotic tunes throughout the night at the Henry George Bluffs starting at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m.

Fairhope officials said to arrive as early as possible to beat the crowd and to be prepared to walk to the pier because parking at the pier is very limited.

They also said they want to remind people to stay safe and have a great Fourth of July.
