Manzie championed a previous CIP project that invested nearly $200,000 to add a walking trail, benches, trash receptacles and other amenities to the area. The project also included an overhaul of the park’s landscaping designed by the late landscape architect Terry C. Plauche. Over the last year, members of the community, led by Mary Stevenson, have worked with City Councilman William Carroll and Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s office to add signage and an iron archway that properly recognize the park as the gateway to the Lafayette Heights Historic District.
