Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival Coming Up
The Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival is taking place on July 25-28 in Mobile. The festival begins with an evening of poetry at Central Presbyterian Church on July 25 at 6 p.m. Poetry contest winners will be announced, and admission is $10. The next day, at 7 p.m. at the Via! Center, a Jazz Gala featuring the Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp Orchestra, the Andrew Ayers Trio and local musicians will be held. Admission is $35. On July 27, beginning at 6 p.m. at Saenger Theatre Mobile, Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra and Gino Rosaria will perform. Tickets start at $29.50. The final day will take place at The Elks Lodge at 4 p.m. and feature The Excelsior Band, Bay Carnival and The Jukebox Brass Band. Admission is free.

The stroke programs within Infirmary Health’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence are designed to provide immediate emergency medical treatment to stroke victims, ensuring they receive the necessary care as soon as possible. The seal symbolizes quality and signifies a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care. Mobile Infirmary says that achieving Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Certification sets the highest standard for delivering care in the healthcare industry.

CABC Cook-Off Challenge Announced
The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber (CABC) is holding the second-annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge at The Wharf in Orange Beach on August 24. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a variety of foods, featuring bacon, in a tailgating atmosphere. Tailgating teams will be competing for a golden ticket to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis. Attendees will vote on a People’s Choice Award, with the winning team receiving a trophy and prize package. The best-dressed fan will also receive an award, and attendees can also expect live music and games. The entry fee to take part in the challenge is $100. It is open to amateurs and professionals of all ages, who can compete either as individuals or as a team. Attendance is $20 and free for children aged 5 and under, and sponsorships are available by contacting CABC’s Kimberly Ray at email.

Island Life Personalized Medicine, a direct primary care clinic, is now open in Gulf Shores and will hold a grand opening ceremony on August 6. Owner Maggie Wallace’s goal is to bring personalized medicine with a beach-vibe family atmosphere. Wallace is known in the area for her high-quality care, chronic health management, weight loss/lifestyle management, holistic approach and patient advocacy, according to a press release. Chuck’s Fish is adding a bar and additional seating to the vacant space next door, with the expansion expected to be complete by the end of July.
