West Virginia State Water Festival to return to Hinton with multiple days of events
HINTON, W. Va. (WVVA) -If you’re looking for some fun in the sun during this summer season, Summers County may have the events for you. This weekend is the official start of the 59th annual West Virginia State Water Festival, a celebration of some of Hinton’s biggest tourist attractions: the three rivers that flow through the area.
John Manchin Senior Health Care Center among nursing homes to possibly be sold
FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) - The West Virginia Department of Health Facilities recently unveiled a new initiative to sell four state-run nursing homes. In a press release Friday, the department announced it will be working with Lument Securities, a healthcare merging and acquisition company, to sell Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley, Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta, Lakin Hospital in West Columbia, and John Manchin Senior Health Care Center in Fairmont.

CHARLESTON W.Va. (Hinton News) — Gov. Jim Justice today announced over $18.6 million in Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant funding recommendations for 11 projects across West Virginia. The West Virginia Department of Economic Development administers the state’s Appalachian Regional Commision program, which is a partnership of federal, state and local participants providing financial and technical assistance for economic development and infrastructure projects. The Governor’s recommendations will now be sent to ARC for final approval. Nearly 3.5 tons of hot dogs shipped to restaurants and hotels in Ohio and West Virginia are being recalled by AW Farms of Argillite, Kentucky, because the meat was not inspected, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Monday.The recall involves approximately 6,900 pounds hot dogs that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.The ready-to-eat dogs were manufactured on various dates starting on about May 30, 2024, and have a shelf-life of 45 days, the notice stated.
