Myrtle Beach to install new waterline
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Crews in Myrtle Beach will soon begin installing a new water line in the city. The city said the installation will begin in September at the “Mama Canal” located near Broadway Grand Prix. The new line will also replace an almost 40-year-old waterline. Officials added that the work would mainly begin at the corner of 29th Avenue North and Old Bryan Drive.

A typical summertime pattern sets up to start the week. Temperatures will remain right around the seasonal average this week with the potential for afternoon storms each day. We’ll heat up a little through midweek with average temperatures, but there will be a heat index near 105. Afternoon storm chances continue into the weekend ahead of a cold front. The front should move through Saturday evening and take the storms with it. Look for a dryer, more comfortable Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
New orthopedic care location coming to Conway
CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — A new orthopedic care location will be coming to Conway. The Conway Chamber of Commerce posted to Facebook that a new OrthoSC location is being built. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday for the new facility, which will be located at 103 Professional Park Drive.

Employee charged with stealing SC DMV funds
A Camden woman faces a felony charge for allegedly using state computers to steal thousands of dollars while working for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. SLED agents arrested Julia Haley Baker, 22. She was charged with computer crime in the first degree and booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office. If convicted, she could be fined up to $50,000 and/or sentenced to up to five years in prison.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services this week celebrates the second anniversary of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. In the past two years, 988 crisis counselors in North Carolina have responded to nearly 190,000 calls, texts and chats, providing critical access to mental health and substance use crisis support. In its second year of service, the number of North Carolinians contacting 988 each month has nearly doubled.
