Inaugural Veggie Man Day held in Fairmont, West Virginia

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) – Cryptid lovers of all ages gathered on the campus of Fairmont State University to celebrate the inaugural Veggie Man Day .

Veggie Man Day was held at the WV Folklife Center in Fairmont to celebrate Fairmont’s very own strange legend . The event included artist vendors, authors, live music, food trucks, and more. Mothboys Podcast and ConjureDust Designs have created Veggie Man Day as a way to bring more awareness of the out-of-this-world creature.

Michael Strayer, event promoter from the Mothboys Podcast, said that it’s important to hold events like this one to keep West Virginia folklore from being forgotten.

“It’s important just to, because these things get lost in time I think and I think it is important that they’re told because not a lot of people have heard, some people have heard of it and some people haven’t and we’ve been passing out little flyers, telling the story and like, so I think people are, and if they didn’t know about it, they know about it now and I think that’s important,” Strayer told 12 News.
