FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A woman, who was wrongly identified as “Miranda Lambert” by a bystander, was arrested at a Fairmont truck stop after troopers found drugs in her purse.

On July 16, troopers with the Marion County detachment of the West Virginia State Police were dispatched to the K&T Truck Stop on W.Va. Rt. 73 in Fairmont for a trespassing complaint, according to a criminal complaint.

Troopers made contact with the individual who had been asked to leave the property, located a “snorting straw” and psilocybin mushrooms and then detained him, the complaint said. When asked, the person claimed that he arrived with a woman named “Miranda Lambert.”

Troopers later learned the individual “lied to troopers about the female’s name,” and she was later identified as Mirranda Godfrey, 43, of Fairmont. Troopers found her in the game room, and noted in the criminal complaint that they “had past experience with Mrs. Godfrey regarding drug use.” For that reason, troopers asked Godfrey if she had any drugs on her person, to which she “became offended and apprehensive,” trooper said.

A K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics in Godfrey’s purse, according to the complaint, and troopers found “two bags of pills,” “two bags of meth,” a “package” of Suboxone and a set of digital scales inside.

Godfrey has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. She is being held in North Central Regional Jail on $250,012 bond.
