SLPS superintendent placed on temporary leave of absence after board holds closed-session meeting
ST. LOUIS — The superintendent of Saint Louis Pubic Schools was placed on a temporary leave of absence by the district's board of education. In a statement, the board said Superintendent Keisha Scarlett was placed on leave, and Deputy Superintendent Millicent Borishade will be acting superintendent. The statement did not provide a reason for the change.

KC man remains behind bars on $5 million bond after Clay Co. indictment
CLAY CO., Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City man has been indicted by a Clay County grand jury as evidence in a lengthy investigation linked him to a fatal 2020 attempted robbery. Clay County, Missouri, District Court records indicate that on Friday, July 26, Alvin J. Horrison, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., was indicted by a grand jury on murder in the second degree. He was also charged with four counts of armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child, assault and attempted robbery.

KCUR staffers vote to unionize. Negotiations will begin with the University of Missouri
By an overwhelming majority, editorial staffers at KCUR have agreed to unionize and join the Communication Workers of America. More than 30 of the 39 eligible employees voted in favor of unionization. Among those eligible to vote were non-supervisory employees at Classical KC, as well as KCUR-based staffers for the Kansas News Service, the Midwest Newsroom and Harvest Public Media.
