Metro Communications passes tough tests in first year of operation

Metro is the emergency communications and dispatch center for city police and fire crews…as well as for the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Department. Stanley Count Dominates Chamberlain in Opening Match Sweep
The Stanley County Buffaloes traveled out to Chamberlain on Tuesday and made a statement in the first match of the year, sweeping the Cubs 25-11, 25-20 and 25-8. It’s the third win in the last two seasons against the Cubs. Chamberlain had the first set tied 4-4 before Stanley County controlled the remaining of the set with a six straight point outcome and kept the Cubs at least a handful away the rest of the set. But it was much tougher in set two. Chamberlain had an 11-4 lead getting to the midway point of the set before the Lady Buffs started to rally and took a 20-19 lead late and hold on to go up 2-0. Colorado woman on life support after drunk driver accident in Sturgis
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Aaften Wesbrock was one of the thousands to travel to Sturgis earlier this month. She was set to work the event but was hit by a drunk motorcyclist. Wesbrock’s mother, Vanessa Handy, said Wesbrock suffered a major brain injury. She is still in South Dakota where she has been on life support for more than two weeks.
Sheridan Man Changes Plea on Felony Voyeurism Charge
A change of plea hearing was held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan Wednesday for a 37-year-old Sheridan man. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Jason Wootton pleaded guilty to the charge of felony voyeurism for video recording an individual’s intimate areas without their consent on April 14, 2024. A misdemeanor charge of unlawful dissemination of intimate images was dropped as part of the plea deal. The State has agreed to cap its split-sentence recommendation of 180 days in jail and 3 to 5 years in prison, with the prison time suspended in favor of three years of supervised probation.
