St. Louis County taking back control of operations of main pet adoption facility
OLIVETTE, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Almost two years after it handed over its main animal shelter to a non-profit, St. Louis County will be taking back control of the operations. In December 2022, the Animal Protection Association (APA) took over the operations of the man St. Louis County Animal Shelter in Olivette. It came four years after an audit recommended a change in how the shelter should be run. In 2018, as part of that audit, the Missouri Department of Agriculture found the facility euthanized more than 1,000 dogs and cats in 2018, 25 percent of the pets it took in. The department also detailed incidents in which it claimed facility employees were requiring pet owners surrendering their animals to fill out paperwork indicating they agreed to their animal being euthanized, without knowing what they were signing.
Walk-off Grand Slam Powers Cardinals past Brewers
After tying the game in the ninth the Cardinals were able to walk it off on the Brewers Wednesday night in St. Louis and win by a score of 10-6 on a walk-off grand slam. After stranding four runners in the first three innings St. Louis was able to break through in the fourth. After a leadoff Nolan Arenado double and subsequent Lars Nootbaar single put runners at first and third Tommy Pham was able to take a full count pitch deep into right for a sacrifice fly and the first run of the game. With two outs the next batter Masyn Winn singled into left to extend the lead to 2-0.

Man sentenced for $56K healthcare fraud using brother’s ID
ST. LOUIS – A U.S. District Judge sentenced a St. Louis man on Tuesday for using his brother’s identity to obtain money from a Missouri healthcare program. Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Missouri said Christopher J. Spencer, 46, used his brother’s name to obtain over $56,000 from a Missouri Medicaid Program between June 2018 and February 2022.
