Accidental shooting in Parsons leaves one in critical condition
PARSONS, Kan. (KOAM) - An accidental shooting early morning on July 25, 2024 has left one man in critical condition and another in police custody. The incident occurred at Prairie West Apartments on the 3600 block of Chess Avenue.
UPDATED: SFD responds to fire at Speakeasy storage shed
Several Salina Fire Department crews responded to a fire at the Speakeasy Bar and Grill, 2030 S Ohio Street, in Salina, this afternoon. Salina Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Stansberry said at approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 25, Fire Engine Two responded to the Speakeasy within three minutes of receiving the call of a fire near the restaurant.
Wichita man injured in Chase County crash
A Wichita man was seriously injured Wednesday in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Michael Rader was riding a motorcycle southbound around 4 p.m. when he went off the roadway and hit a guardrail near mile marker 102. Rader was thrown from the motorcycle by the impact.
Emporia State Women's Tennis Earns Academic Honors From ITA
The Emporia State women’s tennis team and seven individual players were recognized for their academic achievements by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Hornets were named an ITA All-Academic Team while Anastasia Pesic, Andrea Santiago, Angelina Gnezdilova, Giovann Ferreira, Paige Stranghoner, Perla Conde Vendrell and Sheriden Wichman were all named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Salina man dead after exchanging gunfire with police and state troopers
One man is dead after Salina police officers and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol exchanged gunfire with him Wednesday evening. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, which is conducting the investigation of the shooting, officers were dispatched at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to 544 N. 12th St. in Salina after learning a man with a felony warrant was at the location. ...

Three-year-old revived and taken to hospital after falling into pool in Atlanta Wed.
ATLANTA, KS – A 3-year-old girl was resuscitated and taken to a Wichita hospital late Wednesday after she fell into a swimming pool. A little after 9 p.m., the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. was called to the 600 block of Locust in Atlanta for the report of an unresponsive person. It was quickly determined to be a call involving a child, not breathing, who required immediate medical attention.
