FALL RIVER — The public pool at Lafayette Park reopened for visitors today after closing due to a vandalism-related safety issue.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Pool at Lafayette Park is managed by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Last week, DCR abruptly shut the pool down when broken glass was found in the water. DCR did not specify how the glass wound up in the pool or how much was found, but called it vandalism.

DCR said the pool would be drained and cleaned, and that safety checks would be performed, before resuming operations.

The pool and spray deck are open from 11:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., until the end of season on Aug. 18.
