City of Cozad files disaster declaration after hailstorm
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Dawson County residents are still grappling with the aftermath of a weekend hailstorm that caused widespread destruction. The Cozad Development Corporation (CDC) announced that the city has submitted paperwork to designate the storm as a disaster. Meetings with state officials are scheduled to secure necessary assistance for those affected.
Update: Crews Working Two Fires South Of Crawford, Sioux County Fire Extinguished
Crawford and Chadron fire crews were working on two separate fires in Dawes County Monday evening, both in areas south of Crawford. Pine Ridge District Ranger Tim Buskirk said earlier on Monday that he had a crew responding to a fire at an area just off of the Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands north of Belmont, but by 7:00 pm had been released and allowed to return home.
