Pennsylvania Establishes Specialized Office for Dementia Care Coordination
Pennsylvania is set to establish a dedicated office within the Department of Aging to lead initiatives and coordinate care for approximately 300,000 residents suffering from dementia and related disorders. Governor Josh Shapiro recently signed a state budget that includes funding for this new Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Related Disorders (ADRD) office. The establishment of the office follows bipartisan support in the state legislature, with additional funds allocated for research on Alzheimer’s and other neurological conditions.
Scranton Cultural Center Announces Studio Two: The Early Beatles Tribute
The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple will present Studio Two: The Early Beatles Tribute on October 11 at 7:30 PM in Shopland Hall. Voted as ‘New England’s Best Beatles Tribute Band’ by “The Boston Globe,” Beatles tribute band, Studio Two will return by popular demand with their iconic show in celebration of The Beatles coming to America.

Johnson College is holding a Transfer Day on Thursday, July 31, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Scranton and Hazleton campuses. Pennsylvania Universities Co-Host Cyber Camp for High Schoolers
(TNS) — The Sul Ross State University Homeland Security and Criminal Justice Department, in partnership with the University of Scranton-Pennsylvania, offered a Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Investigation Camp for area high school students in Alpine July 9-11. Through hands-on, active learning experiences and lessons by both university professors and professionals working in the field of cyber intelligence and cybersecurity, 13 students from Alpine, Fort Davis, Marfa, Del Rio, Presidio, Terlingua and students from Scranton schools, with whom the Alpine campers collaborated, had a unique opportunity to explore possible career paths in this emerging, dynamic and in-demand sector.

Piano students present spring recital
Piano students of Mary Jane Kotansky, Mountain Top piano instructor, presented their spring piano recitals at The First Welsh Baptist Church in Plymouth on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5. Students performed a variety of pieces, which included classical, jazz, traditional, sacred, popular and classic rock. Jake Marich, member of the 2024 Crestwood High School graduating class, was honored at the recital. Also recognized during the recital were students who participated in the 2024 Cynonfardd Eisteddfod held on Saturday, April 27 in Edwardsville.
