Plymouth man charged with abandoning dog in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE — A Plymouth man is facing felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after he allegedly abandoned a dog in Wilkes-Barre. Dennis W. Meekins, 41, last known address as Willow Street, was identified by multiple surveillance cameras as the man who left a dog caged inside a kennel on a sidewalk in front of a house on Loomis Street on July 12, according to court records.

One person faces attempted homicide charges in a Tioga County, Pa. shooting
Pennsylvania State Police have charged a 69-year-old man with attempted homicide in a shooting that injured one person in Tioga County Thursday. Democrat State Representative Dan Frankel joined some Pittsburgh casino workers for a rally on the North Shore yesterday as they advocate in favor of an amendment to the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act to end tobacco use at their jobs. Frankel is a co-sponsor of the amendment, saying it is meant to close loopholes in the 2008 law.
