Updated: Bristol woman wanted for pulling gun on Falls officer in custody, police said

A 46-year-old Bristol woman wanted for allegedly pulling a gun on a Falls police officer was taken into custody Monday morning by police in Trenton.

Falls Lt. Christopher Clark confirmed Trenton police notified Falls Police they had Karen Marie Stevens Nunez in custody, but no additional details were immediately available.

It is unknown when she will be extradited back to Pennsylvania where she faces charges including felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing or attempting to elude in connection with the Saturday incident.

Authorities shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday a passing motorist flagged down a police car requesting an officer check on the well-being of a woman in a car parked in the 400 block of South Olds Blvd a Oxford Valley Road.

The officer parked his marked vehicle behind a blue 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and saw a woman, identified as Stevens Nunez, sitting outside near the open driver’s side door, according to a probable cause affidavit.

When Stevens Nunez saw the officer, she allegedly stood up and reached into the front driver’s compartment and pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun.  She then allegedly turned to face the officer and pointed the gun toward him.

The last known address for Stevens Nunez is the 300 block of Washington Street in Bristol, police said.

The officer immediately drove his vehicle around Stevens Nunez to the passenger side of her vehicle and ordered her over his loud speaker to drop the weapon, police said.  Steven Nunez then got into her car and drove away.

The Falls police officer started a pursuit north on South Oxford Valley Road. At one point the officer said Steven Nunez was “fumbling her hands” and the officer saw her display the firearm in a cardboard box, the incident report said.

The pursuit continued to Trenton Road with speeds reaching 89-miles an hour, which was more than 50 mph above the posted speed limit.  The police officer lost sight of the vehicle around the intersection to South Olds Boulevard.
