Paranormal Cirque III Comes to Clinton Aug. 8
The circus is coming to town. From Aug. 8 to 11, the Paranormal Cirque III will perform six shows under a big top tent in the Clinton Outlets parking lot. Boasting a lineup that is anything but normal with “horrifying yet seductive” acts, a press release for the show states the circus will include illusionists, acrobatics, contortionists, mythical horror characters, and more.

A reminder that the first installment of tax on the 2023 Grand List was due July 1, 2024. The last day to pay the July 1, 2024 installment without penalty is August 1, 2024 (US Postmark). Payments not bearing a US Postmark must be received by 4:30 p.m. on August 1, 2024 to avoid interest, per CT Statute 12-146. The tax office is accepting payments in person, by mail, and through the Tax Payment Drop Box (located on the exterior wall of the Tax Collector’s Office). M&T Bank offers in-branch tax payment processing during the month of July for current tax bills. The original tax bill must be provided at time of processing. Tax bills are also viewable and payable online at www.madisonct.org/taxpayments.

THEN & NOW: Riverside Cemetery in North Egremont
Riverside Cemetery in North Egremont dates back to the early days of settlement by Dutch and English descendants. The cropped, close-up photograph of the old gateway entrance shown above and the complete panoramic view shown immediately below were taken by the Baldwin family that owned a Great Barrington piano and music store in the early 1900s. They later moved to California and returned to their former home on Baldwin Hill for a visit in the 1940s. The Baldwins had ancestors buried in the cemetery. The photograph features the only known image of the old entrance gate that eventually deteriorated and was torn down many decades ago. A present-day view of the cemetery is also shown below.
