Alexis Holmes Shares Her Journey From Training To The Olympic Stage
"I've learned that mental strength is just as crucial as physical ability." For Alexis Holmes, being an Olympian was always the goal. The Hamden, Connecticut native has been running since she was five and has always seen herself as a prominent Black woman in sports. Now, she’s gearing up for the biggest race of her life: the 2024 Paris Olympics. She enters our Zoom call with bubbly energy, sporting a soft glam and a smile as she relives the moment she saw she’d become the Olympian she wanted to be.
Chase Dollander makes Double-A debut
Former Tennessee pitcher Chase Dollander made his Double-A minor league debut with Hartford on Wednesday. Dollander pitched four innings in the Yard Goats’, 7-1, win versus Harrisburg. He recorded five strikeouts, while allowing three walks, one hit and one run (zero earned) in the contest. Hartford competes in the Eastern League and are located in Hartford, Connecticut. Dollander was selected in the first-round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft (No. 9 overall). He played for the Vols from 2022-23. Dollander (17-6) appeared in 33 games, including 31 starts, for the Vols. He recorded 228 strikeouts, one complete game and a .364 ERA in 168 innings pitched during his Tennessee career. The 2024 Millbrook Horse Trials kicked off yesterday with lower level dressage at Riga Meadow Equestrian Center at Coole Park in Millbrook, NY. There are more than 400 total entries competing at Millbrook, from Beginner Novice to Advanced level. Today the upper level horses cantered down the centerline, while the lower levels headed out on cross country.

Abigail Horn Charged With Attempted Homicide Of Infant: DA
Abigail Horn, 18, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors wrote in a release. Witnesses told Bethlehem police in May that they saw Horn "smothering" the then-6-week-old child, according to authorities. Others said Horn caused the baby to "scream and gasp for air," and on a separate occasion, "squeezed the infant and caused the infant to scream in apparent pain."
