Mandatory Credit: Jordan Prather-Imagn Images / Jordan Prather-Imagn Images</figcaption></figure><p><b>In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Alex McPherson reacts to his return to the game, and Jarquez Hunter talks about his massive performance against Kentucky</b></p><p>It was a big day for redshirt sophomore Alex McPherson. <a href="https://flywareagle.com/auburn-tigers-news-alex-mcpherson-could-return-hugh-freeze-playing-win">It was his return to action</a> after being sidelined for months due to a gastrointestinal issue that took a major toll on the kicker's body. </p><p>McPherson has been cleared to play for several games, but it was only after the combination of a great practice for the kicker and freshman Towns McGough's struggles of late that made head coach Hugh Freeze give McPherson the go-ahead while still acknowledging that he is not yet back at 100 percent.</p><p>For McPherson, the accomplishment means everything after a long road to recovery.</p><p>"Man, it was just awesome," McPherson said postgame, <a href="https://247sports.com/college/auburn/article/auburn-alex-mcpherson-kicker-2024-towns-mcgough-238733756/">per Auburn Undercover</a>. "After all the hard times and the tough work we've put in to get back to where I am now, it was just so awesome to be able to go out there and play with my guys again. I can't thank my O-line enough, and Oscar (Chapman) and Reed (Hughes) for how much they do for me. Just my family, how much they've supported me through everything that's gone on — my fiancee. It's just been a long road, and it was awesome to finally see it come to fruition today."</p><h2>Jarquez Hunter on his performance against Kentucky</h2><p>Running back Jarquez Hunter <a href="https://flywareagle.com/auburn-football-snaps-year-long-sec-losing-streak-behind-jarquez-hunter-historic-performance">had a massive performance on Saturday</a> that was instrumental in the Tigers picking up their first conference win against Kentucky. Hunter ran for 278 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns. As a senior leader on the team, Hunter was determined to carry the Tigers to a victory this weekend.</p><p>"To be honest, I got tired of losing," Hunter said, <a href="https://247sports.com/college/auburn/article/auburns-jarquez-hunter-had-one-of-the-best-games-in-auburn-history-238729646/">per Auburn Undercover</a>. "I'm tired of losing. I told Coach, 'we're going to find a way to win this game and it doesn't matter how we do it or how it gets done.' I just tried to play my hardest for my teammates and coaches and give it my all every play. I tried to take advantage of my opportunities I got today. I tried to wear them out."</p><p>With 3,033 yards, Hunter has moved into sixth all-time in Auburn football history. </p></div></body>
