Bethlehem Academy girls volleyball picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep against Blooming Prairie on the road Thursday night. The win comes after competitive clashes against Eden Prairie and Stewartville to open the season.

“Tonight was a nice win,” Cardinal’s coach Chris Bothun said. “We were able to throw Blooming Prairie out of system and run our quick offense. We did a great job varying our attacks, winning battles at the net, placing our attacks and forcing BP to error. Our middles were a big part of our offense this evening — that was great to see.”

On the court Anna Cohen continued to be an effective piece of the offense with 25 assists while Mikayla Dienst once again picked up multiple aces with four to her name in the winning effort. Overall the Cardinals were effective with their serve throughout the course of the night.

Defensively Anna Tobin was credited with 20 digs to lead the way for the Cardinals while Olivia Glumack continued her strong play at the net with a team high 13 kills. Morgan Wilson wasn’t far behind with nine of her own while Caitlin Bothun wasn’t far behind the lead duo with six kills.

The Cardinals will return home to host Hayfield this coming Tuesday. The match is set to begin at 7:15 p.m.
