    Faribault cross country wins boys and girls team events at Waseca Invitational

    Faribault cross country picked up team wins for both the boys and girls squads on Thursday at the Waseca Invitational.

    On the boys’ side it was a close finish in the team event, as Faribault edged out Waseca by a single point in the eight-team meet, taking first with 34 points to Waseca’s 35. It was a more convincing effort on the girls’ side the Falcons won with just 27 points, further ahead of Waseca with 40.

    For the boys Thomas Obbink finished in second place with a time of 17:54.5. Teammates Carsen Kramer and Liam O’Connor picked up fourth and fifth place finishes as all seven Faribault runners finished in the Top 30. Brandon Petricka, Erik Flores and Tegan Miller would account for another cluster of Faribault finishers going in 15th, 16th and 18th place separated in total by 12 seconds.

    Kalvin Fu would round out the field for the Falcons with a time of 21:52.6

    For the girls it was familiar faces at the top of the list with Brynn Beardsley finishing first, while Brooklyn Becker finished in second place 13 seconds behind her. Claire Wisdo and Cecelia Hoisington’s 6th and 9th place finish gave the Falcon girls four finisher in the Top 10.

    Lauren Bittenbender, Shae Battles and Keira O’coonor would all finish inside the Top 20 with 15th, 18th and 19th place finishes over the span of roughly 24 seconds.
