Beginning this month, FiftyNorth’s breakfast and lunch options will expand with the addition of two local eateries serving within the senior center’s restaurant/kitchen space in Room 105.

Ruth’s on Stafford will begin offering breakfast on Tuesdays starting June 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The breakfast menu will vary from week to week, from savory, made to order omelets to sweet, made to order crepes, waffles and pancakes.

On Thursdays starting on June 6, The Hideaway will offer lunch at FiftyNorth. Lunches must be ordered on Tuesday for Thursday pickup at FiftyNorth between noon-1 p.m. Order forms can be accessed by scanning a QR code with a smartphone; from the FiftyNorth home page website; or by using the desktop link on the FiftyNorth lobby computer.

The special FiftyNorth lunch menu includes a half deli sandwich, choice of turkey or ham, tomatoes, sprouts, onion and bistro sauce served on seven-grain bred for $8 and a 6 inch hoagie with ham, turkey, cheddar cheese and mayo for $7.

The ala carte menu offers a side of seasoned kettle chips for $2; a cup of coup with crackers for $5; a bowl of soup with crackers for $8; a side garden salad with tomatoes, cucumber and onion on spring mix served with rach or balsamic dressing for $4; and a chocolate chip cookie for $2.

Michelle Brant, program coordinator for arts, volunteers and dining, said that if FiftyNorth members and guests support the breakfast and lunch service then the senior center at 1651 Jefferson Parkway can look into adding more weekday food availability.

“We’ll just have to wait and see how well is goes,” said Brant.

Information on To Go boxes and breakfast prices from Ruth’s on Stafford were not available at press time.

Food service at FiftyNorth suspended earlier this spring when Maria Estrada stopped serving food catered under the name Little Frida’s. Meals were served at FiftyNorth Monday through Friday during the lunch hour from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
