Should Michigan Adopt The Illinois Purge Law?
In July of 2022, lawmakers in Illinois decided to implement a new law that would reduce the number of residents who were spending time behind bars in the county jails. As the state of Illinois was facing issues with being understaffed in their jails and holding offenders for too long, they decided that something had to be done in the justice system. Illinois lawmakers would gather and deliberate on what many have dubbed the Purge law to help fix their county jail issues.
Indiana and Illinois Arby’s Locations Affected by Franchisee Bankruptcy
After filing for bankruptcy, a small Arby's franchisee is selling some locations and closing others. Miracle Restaurant Group LLC, a company based out of Louisiana has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Miracle owns 25 Arby's locations in Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. This isn't Miracle Restaurant Group's first Chapter 11 filing according to Nation's Restaurant News,
Pritzker signs bill creating new Department of Early Childhood
SPRINGFIELD – Gov. JB Pritzker signed legislation Tuesday creating a new cabinet-level state agency dedicated to early childhood education and development. The new Department of Early Childhood, which will become operational in July 2026, will take over programs currently housed across three state agencies, including funding for preschool programs, child care centers and the licensing of day care centers.
Fire Causes Nearly $80,000 In Damages to Vacant Home
PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria firefighters were called to a vacant 1 1/2 story house in the 700 block of East Kansas Saturday at approximately 4:12 p.m. Upon arrival crews observed heavy smoke, high heat and a large amount of fire coming from the basement of the structure. A neighboring home suffered siding damage due to its proximity.
