Gas prices in Peoria see slight drop after Independence Day travel
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The average price of gas in the Peoria area has fallen about a cent following a busy week of people traveling for Independence Day. According to a GasBuddy survey of 148 stations in the Peoria area, the average price of gas is about $3.65 a gallon. This is about a cent higher than a month ago and about seven cents higher than this time last year.
One Injured in Galesburg Shooting Incident
On July 6, 2024, at about 11:48 p.m., Galesburg Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 000 block of South Cherry Street. Upon arrival, a victim of a gunshot wound was located in the street. Officers provided lifesaving treatment until medical personnel could arrive. The victim was identified as Mario D Washington, age 45. Washington was transported to St. Mary’s ER and then to St. Francis in Peoria. He remains in the hospital receiving treatment.
