Gas Leak Detected in Galesburg
A gas leak has been detected near the intersection of Sumner Street and Matthews Street in Galesburg. Buildings within a one-block radius will be evacuated out of an abundance of caution, and barricades will be put up to keep traffic out of the area. Residents are asked to please avoid the area until the gas leak has been resolved, which may take into the evening hours.
Crews respond to garage fire Sunday in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home on S. Stanley in Peoria Sunday evening, on reports of a fire. Peoria Fire Chief Steve Rada says when they arrived around 5 p.m., crews found an unattached garage engulfed in flames. They prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby home.

Galesburg’s Orpheum Theatre is hosting shows that its executive director says are designed to help bring in even bigger shows. Starting with Central Illinois Dueling Pianos later this month, the Orpheum is embarking on what it calls a “FUN-raiser”. You buy tickets, but instead of at a specific price, you pay what they’re instead calling a “minimum donation.”

Miracle Restaurant Group LLC, a company based out of Louisiana has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. ARTHUR, Ill. — Those who love quilting and traveling can take part in Shop Hop, an annual event that promotes visiting participating shops throughout the Midwest. There’s an All-Illinois Shop Hop in August and September with up to 71 participating shops. One in east-central Illinois July 10-13 has 12 shops involved from Danville to as far south as Flora and Cisne.
Fisherman Discovers Body In Illinois River Near Peoria
A grisly discovery over the holiday weekend in the Illinois River. On Saturday morning, the Peoria County Sheriff's Office was called about a body discovered in the Illinois River behind Liberty Steel in Bartonville. A fisherman saw the body southwest of the Shade-Lohmann Bridge near the Peoria Lock and Dam.
