Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff: No. 46 LB Grant Buda
The countdown to kickoff is down to 46 days and in the player spotlight with just over a month and half to August 31 is Huskers redshirt junior linebacker Grant Buda. The 6-foot-0, 220-pound linebacker is a Lincoln native and played his high school ball at Lincoln Southwest where he was a standout linebacker for the Silver Hawks including 94 tackles as a senior. Not only did Buda grow up in Lincoln but his grandfather Joe Buda also played for the Huskers in the 1960s. Over his first three seasons with the program, Buda has not seen any playing time. While he could make his collegiate debut in 2024, it remains unlikely for Buda to see any sort of significant playing time this fall. Rolling Hills Supply Suffers Walk-Off Balk Loss In 11th, Ends Season At 17-5
BLAIR – Game 14 of the Class B Area 3 Junior American Legion baseball tournament went extras for Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 Wayne and West Point Post 70. From Veterans Memorial Field, a fourth different opponent was on the schedule for #1 Wayne Post 43 being the Bombers Tuesday night.
McCook FCB Junior American Legion Baseball Advances to Championship Game
The McCook First Central Bank Junior American Legion Baseball Team is now two wins away from advancing the the Class B State Baseball Tournament. McCook will take on Alliance and must win twice as Alliance has yet to lose a game in the B7 District Tournament. Meanwhile McCook must fight off elimination as McCook has lost once to Alliance back on July 14th by a final score of 13-5. First pitch tonight from the Jaycee Sports Complex in McCook is set for 5:00pm with game two (If Necessary) will follow.

Lincoln Woman’s Death Investigation Has Been Closed
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 16)–The investigation into a Lincoln woman’s death after she fell out of a window in late March has been concluded. According to Lincoln Police, they were unable to determine what led up to the death of 58-year-old DeAnn Stover, who fell out of a window and was found unconscious at a home near 27th and Heide Lane on March 27. The autopsy determined Stover died from blunt force trauma from the fall.

Nebraska offers scholarship to junior college power forward
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered a scholarship to a top junior college player. Xavier Edmonds is a class of 2025 power forward from Salt Lake (Utah) C.C. Last season, he appeared in 32 games, averaging 20.8 minutes per appearance. Edmonds also averaged 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-8 power forward shot 55% from the field, 31% from the three-point line, and 66% from the free-throw line. The California native was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023. Beller, Brahmer share Omaha World Herald Midlands Female Athletes of the Year honor
WAYNE - Wayne State College volleyball players Taya Beller adn Maggie Brahmer were named Sunday by the Omaha World Herald as Co-Midlands Female College Athletes of the Year. Beller and Brahmer led the Wildcat program to a magical season in 2023, starting with a sweep over in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney at Volleyball Day in Nebraska August 30th.
Omaha shooting victim was ‘violent,’ wouldn’t leave shooter’s home, neighbors say
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A South Omaha man says he shot and killed a man who was violent and refused leave his home early Tuesday morning. Police arrived at a residence near 51st and Q streets in Omaha around 2:30 a.m. to find 40-year-old Nicholas Gomez inside the house — he’d been shot to death.
Pawnee County Fair this week
(KLZA)-- The Pawnee County Fair will take place this week, Wednesday through Saturday in Pawnee City. Animals to be displayed during the Fair will checked in on Wednesday. The Pawnee County Fair Parade will be Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. Virginia Schlender has been selected at the Grand Marshall for the parade. She and her family have been active with the Fair for over 35 years.
